Monad Testnet: An Introduction to the Newest Blockchain Technology
On February 19, 2025, the team released Monad Testnet to the public as a testing space for the new Monad blockchain. Because Monad is both fast and compatible with Ethereum, it allows users and developers to experience decentralized applications before the main Ethereum 2.0 network is live this year.
What is the Monad?
Monad is a recently launched Layer 1 blockchain designed for use with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). That way, it’s compatible with the same smart contracts and decentralized apps as Ethereum, yet it brings some significant changes:
- TPS: With 10,000, Monad is faster than Ethereum which has only 15–30 TPS.
- Nearly free fees mean that anyone can use it.
- It Takes Only a Second Since transactions are processed instantly, workflows run smoothly and quickly.
- It is easy for developers to use Ethereum tools and code as they are already available.
The company manages these features by applying Monad’s own technologies, including optimistic parallel execution and MonadDB which lowers the need for hardware and increases performance.
The Instructions for Joining the Monad Testnet
Anyone can join the Monad Testnet and it doesn’t cost real money. This is what you need to do to get going:
Set Up Your Web 3 Wallet
Phantom, OKX Wallet, Uniswap Wallet and Backpack are some good wallets to use. You will be automatically joined to the Monad Testnet once you open these wallets. If you’re using a wallet other than the Monad Testnet’s provided one, you can add the network by looking at the instructions on the Monad Testnet’s website.
Access Testnet Tokens
When you set up your wallet, you may ask for free testnet MON tokens from the testnet hub faucet. You can communicate with dApps on the testnet by using these tokens.
Search for dApps and features to try Monad Testnet
After obtaining testnet tokens, you have the ability to:
- Direct Trading: Swap your tokens using Uniswap’s testnet feature available on the Monad Testnet page.
- Add NFTs to your test collection such as digital hedgehogs.
- Interact with dApps such as Fantasy Top and compete in tournaments using your assembled fantasy decks.
- Use different apps and share your thoughts to make the ecosystem better.
Not only will you learn about the Monad platform but you will also become involved in shaping it.
Possible Opportunities to Take Part in Airdrops
Though Monad hasn’t released any details about a token airdrop, testing the network can make you eligible for any future distribution. Find out how you can improve your results.
- Go ahead and test different dApps and do a range of trial transactions on the testnet.
- Use the Discord channel and also follow the X (Twitter) account to receive updates and news from Monad.
- Participate in missions and challenges you find on several online platforms to help keep the ocean clean.
Even if you do these things, they don’t ensure that you will receive the airdrop.
Safety Tips
Security should be your priority while testing on the testnet.
- Create a different wallet that will be used only for testnet tasks to keep your main assets safe.
- Be Mindful Keep away from links that look suspicious and from downloading files you don’t recognize.
- Remember to engage with the official versions of Monad’s platforms and dApps.
What’s Next?
We expect to launch Monad on the mainnet in late 2025. However, while we wait, the testnet will still develop, introducing both new features and new dApps for users to check out. When you join early, you involve yourself in developing Monad and become qualified for possible rewards upon launch.
